Editing (Special Effects)

Editing was one of the strenuous parts of the production as myself and Lewis were trying to better our knowledge and ability to use Final Cut Express. All threw our documentary we used a pen tool which gave a fading ability. As a documentary quick pace cuts and transitions aren't that essential.
We used the pen tool also to edit our audio, for example voice over's when listening you want to make sure that you have a fine balance between diegetic sound and non diegetic sound, it adds to the realism of an actually documentary.
Hours and hours of editing can be tiring however the end result is always something to be amazed of. The 5 1/2 minute documentary, transitions from slow cuts to many fast cuts. Take the Coupe footage for example in a racing situation you don't tend to see slow cuts as it will make it seem fake and unrealistic. We modified the speed of some shots to connote the feeling of finishing and joy.
As you will see the music merges well with the footage to create a synchronised effect. Disadvantage of placing music into Final Cut Express was that you had render the music before you could listen to it as a whole, this was extremely time consuming, however apart from that minor setback, editing ran slowly but smoothly and therefore our final products is almost looking perfect with only some minor changes to do.

Working hard threw lessons to get the editing complete

Myself and Lewis finding out that the Log and Transfer process on Final Cut Express can sometimes take forever

Up to 80 gigabytes of high definition footage was shot, and it was just for a five minute documentary
